User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030103 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030103 Lately with the nightly builds, I've experienced some web pages having huge gaps. These have especially been on finnish language sites, which led me to try out something. I changed the character coding to UTF-8, which causes the finnish characters to be rendered wrong, but it indeed fixed the layout issue and the huge gaps are gone. Apparerntly, the height of the finnish characters (that aren't using in the english alphabet) are reported wrong or something, and it causes huge vertical caps in pages. This is always reproducable when it happens once, but the particular site I'm reporting is dynamic and changes once per hour as the weather report changes, so it might not show up with some particular settup. Right now, for example, it is 100% reproducable, however. It also happens so much with other Finnish language sites that another test case should be easy to produce if necessary. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set character encoding to ISO-8859-1 2. Go to http://www.fmi.fi/saa/paikalli.html?kunta=Helsinki 3. Notice how below "lämpötila" there's a huge vertical gap Actual Results: Huge vertical gap below the word "lämpötila". Expected Results: Correctly rendered page.
Attached two screenshots. One with the correct layout, one with the incorrect. Notice the vertical scrollbars and gaps below the word "lämpötila".
With 1.2.1 (pretty old, but no other one around) on Win95 (the same about this...) it works for me at the moment (which does not necessarily mean anything since I can remember I also saw something similar from time to time (but not very often). Bug 130675 and bug 138419 sound similar.
all dupes of bug 113779 i could reproduce that with a dec nightly ... reopened bug 113779
