User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/115.0
Steps to reproduce:
Permanent result
Actual results:
I use 'plank' as a dock in debian linux 12 (bookworm) ; I install thunderbird with apt.
Every time Thunderbird is updated, the process install the old scalable icon (thunderbird.svg) in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/ but install the new one everywhere a bitmap one is used. Plank use both in the dock, the scalable one is used to magnify the bitmap icon when the mouse cursor fly over it and to generate a shadow. So the two different icons are superposed and it's ugly.
Expected results:
Installation would install the right scalable icon, thunderbird.svg, in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/ , and not the old one.

Sounds like a distro issue.
We don't yet generate debs, but you'd have to get the official builds from thunderbird.net
