Since last week, I sometimes experience the issue that my Firefox Nightly (on Mac OS) doesn't focus and doesn't react to clicks upon start, although all Firefox windows are restored.
Clicking a Firefox window or hovering over UI elements does not cause any effect, and Cmd-Tab-ing to Firefox doesn't focus it either. However, I realized that I could focus Firefox by Right-clicking on the Firefox logo in the Mac OS dock at the bottom of the screen and selecting a window. Then the window is focused (indicated by the three macOS UI dots for close/minimize/fullscreen being colored and no longer gray) and I'm able to use the keyboard to navigate through the UI, and most notably capture profiles. Sometimes the Firefox macOS menu bar was empty when focusing Firefox, just like it is when focusing the Primary Password prompt.
Some observations:
- This has happened both after a restart caused by a Nightly update, a regular OS restart and a manual restart of Firefox.
- I have a Primary Password set up, but in one case I know that I typed and submitted my Primary Password yet I wasn't able to focus any window immediately afterwards.
- I can still drag the Firefox windows around and resize them via Rectangle, and the web content in the windows updates accordingly.
- At least one time, I saw a delayed hover effect on a Firefox tab when hovering over it with the mouse in the tab list, but clicking did not have any effect (even not delayed).
- In the Browser Console, I noticed the following messages:
Login crypto: Failed to encrypt string with error NS_ERROR_FAILURE.
@crypto-SDR.sys.mjs:80
Login crypto: Prompted for a primary password, notifying for passwordmgr-crypto-loginCanceled
@crypto-SDR.sys.mjs:299
Sync encountered an error - see about:sync-log for the log file.
@policies.sys.mjs:972
Given tab is not restoring.

Moving to Core :: Widget: Cocoa, since this is likely happening in that layer.
