The following Firefox probes will expire in the next major Firefox nightly release: version 126 [1].
apz.scrollwheel_overshoot
What to do about this:
- If one, some, or all of the metrics are no longer needed, please remove them from their definitions files (Histograms.json, Scalars.yaml, Events.yaml).
- If one, some, or all of the metrics are still required, please submit a Data Collection Review [2] and patch to extend their expiry. There is a shorter form for data collection renewal [3].
If you have any problems, please ask for help on the #data-help Slack channel or the #telemetry Matrix room at https://chat.mozilla.org/#/room/#telemetry:mozilla.org. We'll give you a hand.

The purpose of this probe is to help alert us to potential regressions in the scrolling experience from changing our scroll-wheel physics from Bezier to MSD (bug 1760372).
We enabled the probe in Firefox 116 (bug 1836870), and we enabled MSD physics by default on the Nightly channel in Firefox 122. So, on the Nightly channel we had several release cycles (Firefox 116-121) of "before" (Bezier physics) data to compare to several release cycles (Firefox 122-125) of "after" (MSD physics) data.
The results on the Nightly channel look encouraging (no significant change in the frequency of overshoot), so from the point of view of this metric, we are happy to let MSD physics ride the trains to release once other blockers are fixed (the overall tracking bug is bug 1760372).
That said, per discussion in our planning meeting, we'd like to keep the probe until the feature reaches release so we can validate the results on the release channel as well.
