Steps to reproduce
- Launch Firefox.
- Open a new tab and focus the address bar.
- Focus a trending search.
- Open the result menu of the selected trending search and click on ‘Why am I seeing this?’ option.
- Open a new tab and focus the address bar.
Expected result
- SUMO page opens in a new tab, previous trending search is not displayed in the Recent Searches section.
Actual result
- SUMO page opens in a new tab, previous trending search is displayed in the Recent Searches section, even though the search has not been submitted.
Regression range
- Will come back with more information ASAP.

Issue is verified as fixed on Firefox Nightly 125.0a1 on macOS 12, Windows 10 and Ubuntu 22.
A wider smoke testing session will be conducted during Nightly 125 merge regression test run.
