Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:125.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/125.0

Steps to reproduce:

I found that my profile folder is super large over 10GB:

Mostly taken by storage/archives/.

These folder looks like some daily backups starting from 2021:

Including site data and indexed DB.

Actual results:

Is there any reasons to keep them in the profile? According to about:preferences#privacy, I only have 3GB site data:

Expected results:

Use less space.

I wonder if this can be a reason why Firefox starts extremely slow:

Thanks for the report. We need to do something about old archives, but I can assure you that it's not a reason for slow startup.

Is it safe to delete the archives folder?

Is it safe to delete the archives folder?

Yes, it is.

The archival of unaccessed origins will be removed after bug 1671932, maybe sooner. So we plan to remove the archives folder completely as part of that.
