I don't think ever seen 13 seconds of pure jank before - that's nasty.
What was happening in Thunderbird prior to that?

Nothing special, I mostly fetch and read email in a pretty boring way... I haven't seen this recently (but I mostly use my laptop when this was filed when traveling, and my desktop). Will update this bug if I hit this again.
