Currently the ContextualSearch UrlbarProvider (soon to become ActionsProvider) only works on pages that support opensearch search engines. It should be possible to extend it to support any page that provides in built search, in particular pages that offer "Add a Keyword for this search" when right clicking an input field.
Searchfox and GMail would be 2 good examples of sites that we can hopefully support.

Some of the work I was planning to do in here has been done in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1924666
This would still be nice though, not abandoning just deprioritising
