Steps to reproduce:

Launch TB,
double click on a message in the intray
click on the new tab created to view the message
click in the text of the message
close TB by clicking the top right cross

Actual results:

pop up "TB is not responding"
click on force quit

Expected results:

TB should close graciously

Summary: TB is not responding, Force Quit when a message is opened in a tag → TB is not responding at closure when a message is opened in a tag, need to use Force Quit

You have a mail account with Thunderbird configured to do one or both of the following:

  • Expunge on exit
  • Delete trash on exit

Expunge and Empty trash on exit unchecked (desactivated)
Note that the problem does not occur anymore since release 126.0b.2

Thanks for the update. That would make this (roughly) a duplicate of bug 1891889 which was caused by bug 1862111
