In Safari, when you create a bookmark, instead of immediately sticking it at the
end of your bookmarks list (which quickly becomes cluttered, in my experience),
it pops up a dialog giving you a chance to rename it and select a bookmarks
folder to place it in. This seems like a very nice idea.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Create a bookmark
Oh, duh, I never even noticed that Mozilla had "File Bookmark" option, which
does almost the same thing! So much for, "Apple engineers took the opportunity
to completely rethink the whole notion of bookmarks for Safari."
Still, I think the pop-up menu that Apple uses to select a folder is nicer than
the scrolling list that Mozilla uses. (The dialog window is too small to show
the whole list, unless I resize it--by default, it only shows two items in the
list, which is annoying to scroll, much less expand sub-folders. Clicking a
pop-up menu is much quicker and easier.)
Moreover, it might be worth considering whether to make "File Bookmark" the C-D
default, and "Add Bookmark" the less-common C-Shft-D shortcut. I suspect that
most habitual C-D users like myself will be pleasantly surprised (and maybe
Apple's usability testing would concur).
Sorry to mistitle the bug; I hope that something can be learned from Apple's
implementation in any case.

The issues with the file bookmark dialog size are in bug 99860.
BTW - The behaviour this bug is describing (the folder list and the key
bindings) are the default in Phoenix.
Summary: enable renaming/classifcation when a bookmark is created, like Safari → Make Ctrl+D File Bookmark, not Add

Bug 160461 is about removing the UI to imidiate add a bookmark completely. So
this bug may well be fixed alongside with bug 160461. Because it seems it is not
yet decided if bug 160461 will be fixed at all, I don´t mark this bug as a dupe
of it and just add a dependency.
In any case this bug sounds like a reasonable enhancement. File Bookmark is far
more useful than Bookmark This Page and one shouldn´t need to press a three key
combination to access it via keyboard. So marking NEW.

Product: Browser → Seamonkey
By all means: leave the accellerator Ctrl-D = "Bookmark This Page" (without Dialog!)
When making lots bookmarks, pressing "ok" for every new bookmark is very annoying.
I don't know who made this change in Mozilla 1.8 alpha 6 (or earlier) but that
has to be changed to the _original behaviour_ (or at least with a
configure-option in about:config)
(Mozilla 1.8alpha6 has Ctrl-D as File Bookmark and Ctrl-Shift-D as Bookmark this
Page)
