User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20020830 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20020830 I was trying to access a link in at http://cisco.netacad.net/cnams/home/ManageInstructor ... this page can only by accessed by cisco academy instructors like me. this page works fine if im using windows 98 OS but when i accessed it using Redhat 8.0 using the Mozilla browser, everytime i click the Take Assessment link, nothing will happen. The link will try to execute javascript:openFullScreenWin ... is this not support in Mozilla? I was planning to use RedHat 8.0 for all my workstations, but i have to go back to windows 98 for a while until this will be solve. thanks alot. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: support this script. javascript:openFullScreenWin
If you can provide the source for that page, then maybe this bug will stay open. But, as it stands now, I have no idea what you are trying to say.

This bug still does exist as of 1.5b
This looks to be a duplicate of bug 200305 which has a patch that supposedly fixes this. Another duplicate is bug 208090. This makes Mozilla unusable as a web browser for the sites using the Cisco Academy Web Curriculum.
(reporter !?) Could you provide reproductible steps or _a testcase_ ? <http://cisco.netacad.net/cnams/home/ManageInstructorClass.jsp;jsessionid=igxhrswip1.t7L?classID=1515395&> returns "Your session has expired. Please click the link below and log in again." (private access, with ";jsessionid=", is useless :-() and <http://cisco.netacad.net/cnams/home/ManageInstructor> returns "Not found request: /cnams/home/ManageInstructor" :-< Also check the JavaScript Console for messages appearing with this bug: Cut&Paste the messages, or say that there's none. Thanks.

This script works on IE 6.0 and Netscape 4.8. I've also verified that it doesn't work in Mozilla 1.0.2 - 1.5b

Re comment 6: [Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 5 (5.00.3105.0106) (128b, SP1)] (W98SE) Working, using 'document.all'. [Netscape® Communicator 4.8 : en-20020722] (W98SE) Working, using 'document.layers'. [Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624] (W98SE) Irrelevant, since there is no actual code for Mozilla. (No javascript error anyway.) Suggestion: have a look at <http://www.stopbadtherapy.com/standards.shtml> (just found it on Google...). Since I guess the initial description was comparing Mozilla (/Linux) to MsIE (/W98), this bug will be resolved as Invalid, unless an actual issue is posted within a week.

As an instructor, I've sent the following over to the Cisco Accademy bug database. Hopefully this will alow them to work with NS 6,7 & Mozilla. There is an error in this file: http://cisco.netacad.net/cnamsassets/js/global.js That causes Netscape 6 & 7, and Mozilla to fail to display the Assessment page because of non-standard code. The function openFullScreenWin fails to account for Standards based browsers. Just by adding the code in the else statement here allows them to work properly. function openFullScreenWin(url) { if (document.layers) { // Netscape 4.x windowWidth = screen.width - 9; windowHeight = screen.height - 58; windowprops = "scrollbars,alwaysRaised,titlebar=0,top=0,left=0,width=" + windowWidth + ",height=" + windowHeight; myNewWin = window.open(url, "popupPage", windowprops); myNewWin.focus() } else if (document.all) { // IE 5.x and above myNewWin = window.open(url, "popupPage", 'fullscreen=yes, scrollbars=yes'); myNewWin.focus() } else { // Netscape 6-7, Mozilla myNewWin = window.open(url, "popupPage", "fullscreen=yes, scrollbars=yes"); } } For further reference you can see this document that gives reasoning for moving away from proprietary feature: document.layers and document.all http://www.stopbadtherapy.com/standards.shtml
Based on comment 8, and private email reading "... ok to mark this as INVALID as it's just an old script at fault.": Resolving bug as Invalid.
