If you hold-and-drag the mouse inside the demo pane, or resize the code-pane such that hte demo-pane resizes, only then the svgs will animate

Seems reasonable. Probably the other regression from that bug bug 1813318 or bug 1846910 are the same issue. I'm pretty sure I debugged one of those and it just need an invalidate somewhere.
