Details
Until bug 1883673 was implemented, users could disable grouping of windows in the taskbar with the browser.privateWindowSeparation.enabled
preference (by setting it to false
), but the preference was removed with the removal of other, IMV unrelated, code.
The lack of grouping increases task bar clutter for users that don't want that distinction in the task bar.
Users are now blocked from selecting whether they want to group all their windows under a single taskbar item, or whether they want to separate them. This causes a differentiation between using 'throwaway profiles' and a 'private browsing profile': I can enable/disable grouping of profile windows under a single task bar entry (with taskbar.grouping.useprofile
), but I can't do the same anymore for the special private browsing profile.
Please reconsider removing this preference, or re-implement the grouping of taskbar entries under one list item, e.g. through making the task bar group ID between private mode and normal mode equivalent.
