Steps to reproduce:

This bug applies to Thunderbird also. Menus are in Hebrew.

  1. In Firefox, click on folder in the bookmarks toolbar to show the bookmarks in it, click again to close the folder tree, then click the folder again and hoover the bookmarks .

  2. In Thunderbird, click an item in the menu bar, click again to close the menu item, then click the menu item again and hoover the items.

Actual results:

In Firefox, the bookmarks in the folder flicker. In Thunderbird, the menu items flicker. See videos at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/2065382

Expected results:

No flickering should happen in both apps.

Also, from private discussion with Amin, this is reproduced on Ubuntu 22.04 (but not on 24.04) and with/without Snap package

Moshe, can you share about:support?

I can repro something similar on KWin (flickering / mispositioned menus) with the RTL locale if the menus are large and we use the move-to-rect movement. I think we get the anchor gravity wrong for RTL, but not sure if that'd be enough to fix ^

Thanks Martin. I was referring to bug 1902250 which blocks this bug. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
