User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:127.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/127.0

Steps to reproduce:

Running on Fedora 40 Kinoite (KDE Plasma 6.0.5)
Flatpak v.115.12.1 (64-bit)
KDE Icons-Only Task Manager Widget
Thunderbird application is pinned to Task Manager (so it stays in the task manager regardless if it's running or not).

Actual results:

Clicking on the Thunderbird icon will spawn a new, separate Thunderbird icon to represent the running app.

Expected results:

Thunderbird should open and present a blue bar under the existing pinned app (as seen in the Firefox icon in the screenshot), instead of spawning a new icon.

Attached video Launch behavior

Launching Thunderbird will spawn multiple icons, then one of them disappears.

From what I can tell, this started happening with Version 115.12.1. I use TB daily and have a script that checks for Flatpak updates daily, so it would have picked up the latest change today (Jun 20); TB 115.12.1 released Jun 19.

I can confirm this bug as well.

I can confirm this bug existing, I am running Kubuntu 24.04 (fresh install) and I have tried both flatpak and snap version and they both spawn multiple task manager instances on KDE 5.27. The pinned one has the icon, and new spawned one for active window has a blank icon. However I did not notice this issue when testing out Thunder in beta channel for snap version.

Appears to be fixed with the 07-11-2024 stable release of Thunderbird from Flathub.

Reopening this bug.

This was fixed when the Flatpak application was updated to v.128esr. However, as of Jul 17, it seems to have reverted to v.115.13.0 in Flathub. The change back to v.115 has re-introduced this bug again.

As a bonus, I had to re-create my profile again since Thunderbird couldn't use my profile that was modified in v.128 with v.115.
