User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:128.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/128.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Have multiple IMAP mail accounts in Thunderbird.
- Move a mail that is located in a folder of account #1 to the inbox via clicking on "Move to Inbox" in the right-click context menu.
Actual results:
Mail got moved to the inbox of account #2.
Expected results:
Mail should have been moved to the inbox of the same account of one of its subfolders it was located in the first place, e.i. to the inbox of account #1 in this exemplary case.

Thanks for reporting this.
Is it possible that the email was not fully downloaded at the time of the move?
Can you reproduce this issue with other messages?

The regarding Mail was fully downloaded, it was a rather old email.
I can reproduce this behavoir with all of my accounts, but I cannot reproduce to which account's inbox the mails will be moved.
I have 4 different outlook.com accounts (via IMAP) and 1 account from my organization (IMAP) and 1 gmail.com account (IMAP) in Thunderbird.
Yesterday outlook.com account "A"'s mails have been moved to the gmail account's inbox. Today they seem to get moved to outlook.com account "A"'s inbox.
The random-destination-inbox does not seem to be "chosen" by the source account. E.g. for a certain period of time all mails - irrelevant from which account - will be moved to the inbox of a random account (occasianally it is even the source account, as desired).

If you look at tools > activity manager, is the information shown there correct about where the message actually moved to?

yes, it says (translated by myself from german to english):
1 Message moved from "Folder_A" to "Inbox"
from "Account_A@outlook.de" to "Account_B@outlook.com"
That's what actually happened - though it should not happen.

What does work as expected though is moving the mail via the following procedure:
[right click on message to open context menu] -> Move to -> account_A@outlook.de -> Inbox"
Only the "abbreviated" click on
[right click on message to open context menu] -> Move to "Inbox"
gives this random experience.

What do you mean by "Only the abbreviated click on Move to Inbox"? There is no such thing. There is only "Move to Inbox again" which will list the last globally used folder for moving/copying.

ok, so there is a translation issue as well?
i'm talking about the entry i marked in the attached screenshot.
it literally translates to Move to "Inbox".

but even if the translation were correct - the mails would still get moved to a random inbox.

Not random, it would say which "random" folder it is - the last one used, and use that.
