User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:128.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/128.0
Steps to reproduce:
Enable experimental exchange support in Flatpak version of 128.0 on linux, add an exchange account using the "Exchange Web Services" available configuration
Actual results:
Account instantiation hangs at "Checking Password" (although a green message is displayed just under this saying "Password OK").
Expected results:
The account should be created.
I know of at least one other user having this issue.

Well, that's not enabled on 128.0 for a reason. It's not ready for prime time yet.

Can you try Daily or beta?
I was looking around here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/2024/07/2024-07-18-10-51-01-comm-central/
With names like thunderbird-130.0a1.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2, just want to make sure there isn't a 128 beta version I should be trying. If not, I can test this one from today.

A 128 beta version would only include changes shipped prior to the 128.0 release earlier this month. Current Daily builds have the 130.0a1 version number, and beta builds have a 129.0bX version number, X being the beta build number for this version (I believe the current is 129.0b3). We unfortunately do not currently ship testing builds with only the latest Exchange-related changes on top of 128.0 ESR.
Thanks for this info.
The password hanging has been fixed in 130.0a1 (the nightly I link above). I can see the mail folders and messages are visible inside some of them (maybe it is loading headers for the others....).
In 129.0b3 (current beta download) "Exchange Web Services" isn't available as an available configuration (the one using the OWL plugin is available), so this bug isn't relevant for b3.

EWS support isn't enabled by default on beta, only nightly/daily builds, so if you haven't manually turned the pref on for this feature, it won't show.
I'll close the bug since it doesn't seem to be an issue on daily, which is our preferred platform for testing experimental features.
Oops forgot to turn the experimental feature on. It is hanging on b3 in case anyone cares.
