We need to add animation logic for slowly transitioning the sidebar "launcher" opened/closed in "Always hide" mode similarly to how we're doing for when in "Always show" mode in bug 1898251. We'll likely need to replace existing logic for setting the element to hidden with logic to translate it horizontally out of view.

Figma prototype is here, and the discussion for performance gotchas for this implementation can be found in this doc.
