Current Desktop Logic:
- For those who don’t have Firefox set as default, Every time you launch Firefox there is a “Set to Default” modal prompt with a checkbox to never show again
- Every 28 days we show a fox doodle spotlight model that prompts user to set to default
Current Mobile Logic:
- We prompt in On-boarding
- After 4 app launches we prompt in a Homescreen Card
- We have experimented with Push notification 3 days after install
Acceptance Criteria:
-
Variant 1: Every 4 app launches (from coldstart)
-
Max shown 3 times
-
Run as a nimbus experiment to find out
-
Good outcome: More people setting us to default
-
Bad outcome: People uninstall or use less (pick a metric)
After latest discussion on jira ticket we will create tickets for now, with the initial criteria being:
- Every 4 cold start app launches.
- 2-week period between displays.
- Max shown 3 times.
- Displayed when user lands on home screen.
We will also look into multiple display possibilities, probably displaying during splash screen might involve more work.
