Quick search hangs/freezes UI

Steps to reproduce:
When using quick search on a folder with lots of mails (50.000+), typing into the quick search input makes thunderbird hang completely. (MacOS: Beachball is spinning for 3-5 seconds.). Same happens when scope is changed, e.g. clicking on the button to search for recipients (or not). Quick search is barely usable, because it starts freezing while typing, the gets some more characters after the freeze, freezes again etc.
It does not matter where it searches, e.g. if contents of emails are searched or only the subject or recipients.
I think this behaviour started with a version before 115 "supernova". On older versions it didn't do it but the UI stayed responsive. But I can't say which version it was exactly where it started to freeze the UI.
Currently using Thunderbird 129.0b6 on MacOS 14.6.
Expected results:
It should search in the background and the UI should stay responsive. Maybe display that the search is still running with a rotating spinner icon where the number of results is displayed.
When the message list is updated, UI should stay responsive, too (not sure if the search hangs or updating the message list).

Markus,
Can you confirm this is solved for you with Thunderbird 128.2.0esr or newer?
Thanks for coming back to me. I followed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1908761#c5 which fixed it for me without upgrading TB. So I cannot say if a newer version fixes it automatically without the workaround.

Thanks for the update. It confirms bug 1908761 would have fixed it for you in a newer version.
