  1. Go to https://www.rte.ie/player/series/paris-olympics-2024/10005978-00-0000?epguid=IH10005976-24-0051
  2. Enable captions for video in site's player
  3. Enable PiP (toggle, url bar, or context menu)
  4. Turn on PiP captions

Expected:

  • PiP captions should appear

Actual:

  • No captions appear

  • If site does not load, try a VPN with an Irish server

Reproduced the initial issue on Firefox 138.0.1 on macOS 15.

Verified as fixed using the latest Nightly 140.0a1 and Firefox 139.0b4 on macOS 15, Ubuntu 24.04 and Windows 11 - PiP subtitles are now supported on RTE player.
