Steps to reproduce:
Just started the client and searched for a mail with an attachement, but the attachement wasn´t there anymore. In the account there were more mails with an attachement, but it only happened to some of them. I use different folders, so I looked in another one, but the issue was the same: some mails, that has to have attachements were still there but the attachement was disappeared. Without Thunderbird the mails and attachements are in the folder

Looks like bug 1890230. Right click the folder and in the folder properties, use Repair Folder.
