User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 A jpg file in an attached e-mail message is not displayed (separate bug report) so an attempt is made to open the file via right-click context display on the file icon displayed in the attachment window of the e-mail display. A dialogue box appears with the jpg file name to which ".doc" has been appended, together with the message 'You have chosen to download a file of type: "Microsoft Word Document"...' The only choices given are to open the file with Windows Explorer or to save the file to disk. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the e-mail. 2. Attempt to open the jpg attachment. 3. Actual Results: See "Details" above. Expected Results: Open the file as a jpg. Mozilla has been designated to open most files of the type which can be selected in Mozilla, but eml files have been assigned to Outlook Express pending resolution of Bug 11076.
Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="iraq-explained1.jpg" is what the mail says. Do you have "application/octet-stream" associated with the ".doc" extension in your helper app preferences by chance?
Reporter says "yes". *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 189598 ***
