User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:130.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/130.0
Steps to reproduce:
Upgraded Thunderbird from 128.1.0esr (64-bit) to 128.2.0esr (64-bit).
Actual results:
Clicking Inbox shows list of messages on screen for short time (a fraction of a second) and then "No message found" message is displayed even though "Inbox 2,743 Messages" is displayed at top. In other words, Thunderbird doesn't show the list of messages.
Expected results:
Thunderbird should display the list of messages.
New findings:
- The messages in Message list are displayed in Troubleshoot mode (I have no addons though)
- Looks like the newly arrived NOT READ messages are displayed in the Message list but not the old ones. If I read the message, the message disappears from the list, so maybe an issue with read messages?
I am able to display the messages in the Message list by two steps:
- change
View -> Threads -> ✓ All
to
View -> Threads -> ✓ Threads with Unread
After selecting this nothing happens, still no messages in the Message list.
2. change
View -> Threads -> ✓ Threads with Unread
back to
View -> Threads -> ✓ All
Now, the message list displays all messages.
However, if you change the folder (for example Inbox to Sent and back to Inbox), the Message list is empty again.
So I think there's a problem with displaying unread messages (some app state?).
Omg, I had enabled Unread
filter in Quick Filter
. It's also visible in the attached screenshot.
Disabling the filter fixed the issue!
Anyway, there's a bug that the Unread
filter isn't applied when I set:
- View -> Threads -> ✓ Threads with Unread
- View -> Threads -> ✓ All
Then the unread messages are visible even if the Unread
filter is enabled.
I meant all messages are visible:
Then the read messages are visible even if the Unread filter is enabled.
So the state is broken.

Confirming comment 3. Switching to a special view resets all search terms, so the quick filter bar should be reset in this case.
