Set release status flags based on info from the regressing bug 1916008

I am not sure why bug 1916008 causes the size to enlarge, and it's only on OSX (patches are applied to all platforms), but those fixes are necessary for compatibility (accommodating API misusages). Additionally, 0.2x% larger seems acceptable to me.
