Steps to reproduce:
Thunderbird 128.1.1esr (64-bit) for Windows
While downloading/syncing a large set of new mail messages, the "new mail" notification sound plays repeatedly (presumably, once per each new mail message), which is hugely obnoxious. Instead, this should work like Outlook: after the entire sync operation is done, if any new mails were received, the notification sound should play exactly once.

I want to add that this behaviour is also true for other features, like chat, when if there are multiple hundreds of new messages on a Matrix server Thunderbird will play the notification pop sound multiple hunderds of times as well until all of them were played and it can be really really annoying.
