User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:130.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/130.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Auto upgraded to Thunderbird 128.2.2esr in Windows 10 Pro.
- As next tried to reinstall Thunderbird from scratch.
- I did restart my computer after each upgrade/reinstall.
- FYI: my system (Win 10 Pro) is clean from viruses/malwares etc, it's used exclusively for my work (RDBMS development), no social media nor games are installed.
Actual results:
After this upgrade Thunderbird stuck on "Sending login Information", or "checking for new email features", or I don;t see any message in the bottom status bar and the blue color bar is on 100% doing nothing.
I don't see new messages, nor errors.
- Thunderbird is not complaining about logging problems to my email accounts (I have 7 different account with Yahoo, Gmail and MS 365).
- I didn't have these problems before upgrading to 128.2.2esr.
- I have another workstation with Debian 12 and Thunderbird is working fine, but it's version 115.5.0(64 bit).
Expected results:
Thunderbird should

Are you using oauth2? Possibly the same as bug 1919695
Yes, I do. Few months (maybe a year) ago all my accounts have been changed to oauth2 authentication, it was mandatory at the time.
I didn't make any changes in settings, only approved the automated update to 128.2.2ers.
I tried to uninstall Thunderbird and installing again using downloaded "Thunderbird Setup 128.2.2esr.exe". I did reboot my computer after removing and after installing Thunderbird.

Can you reinstall 128.2.1esr?
When I terminate Thunderbird a zombie thread is still running. I did kill it and tried again (this process was repeated probably >10 times).
My last try hands on "Checking mail server capabilities" (message in the bottom status bar).

Can you reinstall 128.2.1esr?
Please send me a link to the download.
Thanks.

You can get it from: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/128.2.1esr/
Thanks Corey, it did work. After downgrading to 128.2.1esr it's working as expected.
I'm going to mark this thread as duplicate with 1919695.
