Hi, following the process from https://wiki.mozilla.org/GitHub#Is_.22mozilla.22_the_only_GitHub_.22organization.22_related_to_Mozilla.3F for Mozilla-It Github group.
planet.mozilla.org has been not been maintained for roughly 1-2 years, due to mhoye not being at Mozilla anymore. I'd like to continue maintaining it.
If possible, I'd like to be added to mozilla-it/planet.mozilla.org with write access.
My Github account: mb, also visible in people.mozilla.org.

There are more than a few admins of that repo - I'm NI'ing a couple here for their approval to add you with at least write access.
Glob, Brett - Any concerns? Or if there are better people to answer, please redirect...
Manuel - what changes are you planning on making?
If you plan on taking over ownership that needs to be run through the Module Ownership System for approval.

Mostly adding/removing feeds. But if there is need for general maintenance, I'd be willing to spend some cycles on it as well. I'll take a look what is necessary for module ownership.

What Module Ownership System are you referring to?
- Conduit :: mots seems to be for in-tree stuff
- Maybe requesting triage ownership for Websites :: planet.mozilla.org in Bugzilla :: Administration?

I just saw the discussion in the #moco channel, where I found the doc about planet.mozilla.org. I see now that planet in does have a mots entry indeed. I made this request completely independent from the slack thread. I'm still interested in doing this, even with the additional information from the slack thread.
It isn't in mots.yaml, but it is on wiki.mozilla.org.

It seems like a mail to governance@mozilla.com is necessary. There is no current owner and the only Peer also is inactive on bugzilla+slack and not available on people.mozilla.org. glob seems to be (informally?) declared the intermediate owner. @glob should I write an Email to that list to proceed, do you write that mail or what does the process looks like?

Please ensure you've read the current policies around the process for additions and removals at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Planet_Mozilla

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zR4SAPl15ZsgHF2IoJEcegGaQG2DJfmnS2AIgVVpsfg/edit has the required work.

Thanks. IMHO this shouldn't be a module, so one path might be to proposal dropping it from the module system.

This module is unowned; there's more time required than I'm able to provide. My involvement was as a fire-fighter - planet was being spammed so I figured out the mess, removed the spam, and documented my recommended next steps.
As this is primarily a community/marketing/developer-relations resource I recommend engaging with those teams to ensure their expectations are not broken.

I've sent out an E-Mail to governance now: https://groups.google.com/a/mozilla.org/g/governance/c/vPCbg9CPzTA. I opted for proposing ownership, instead of removing the module, because it seemed to me that the module system still fits here. But I'd be open for removal too, since one might argue that it is in the scope of IT, but I didn't find sufficient arguments for that.

That was quick - what was the response from the community/dev-relations team?

I haven't reached out to the community/dev-relations team, because I don't intent to make changes in the way planet operates. I would reach out to them if I would these kind of changes. However, I'll reach out to the respective teams now and keep this bug updated.

It still makes sense to reach out, even if it's just to let them know whom to ping in the future.

I agree. I reached out in #community-management:
Hi, I'd like to continue maintaining planet (context: Bug 1925243 and governance). Glob, who removed spam from planet in the past, would like to make make sure that the expectations of the devrel and community team aren't broken. There is also the option to remove the Planet module and have it operated by the IT team. Not sure who best to ask from devrel/community (maybe @rkelimutu?). Any concerns with me taking ownership of the planet module or opinions on whether we should remove the module? I'd be glad about responses from the devrel/community team in the bug, but responding here is fine too.

I'm setting an additional blocking whiteboard tag that means that I don't want this bug to be resolved until I clear that tag.
