RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1923526

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/130.0.0.0 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

I can reproduce by following these steps

  1. Install Thunderbird Ver128.3.3
(I set up a POP account)
  2. Import about 15,000 emails into inbox.
    (The more emails, the better.)
  3. Delete several dozen emails from inbox.
  4. Open the folder containing the inbox email data in Windows Explorer.
    [Help]->[TroubleShooting Infomation]->[Profile Folder]->[Open Folder]->[Mail]->[<POP account>Folder]
  5. Right-click on your inbox and run Compact
  6. When Inbox-1 appears in Windows Explorer, close Thunderbird.

Actual results:

Inbox-1 will remain in Windows Explorer
The next time you start Thunderbird, Inbox-1 will appear under Inbox.

Expected results:

If the Compact process is interrupted, inbox-1 is deleted.
The next time you start Thunderbird, Inbox-1 will not appear under Inbox.

When I tried the same procedure with Thunderbird Ver115.16.1esr, it was created with "nstmp" but was deleted even if the Compact process was interrupted.

Users who have the Compact process set to run automatically will notice that if they quit Thunderbird without realizing that Compact is running in the background, "Inbox-1" will be generated the next time they start it.
If the Inbox is large enough, this is easily reproducible.

Seem like duplicate of bug 1923526. Thanks for the steps to reproduce (I didn't try them yet)
