The existing Classic theme for Mozilla on Mac OS X is not very attractive. The
Pinstripe theme by Gerich offers much more fidelity to the OS X look and feel.
It's my understanding that Gerich is willing to consider such an action.
It's worth noting that the Classic theme made sense when there was an OS9/CFM
version. Now that those ports are retired, Mozilla should have an OS X-savvy
Look & Feel.
Pinstripe implements so many improvements over Classic (fixed search button,
Jaguar-style progress thingy, aqua-rific icons, Graphite & Blue variations
(ideally could switch based on system setting), and is a real nsTheme/Appearance
Manager theme, the best feature of Classic. One could file dozens of Aqua HIG
bugs against Classic and we'd wind up with something very like Pinstripe in the end.
There's always some room for improvement, blue stop signs and such, but is there
anything Classic can do that Pinstripe can't?

I wholeheartedly agree - pinstripe is much, much, better than the Fizzilla
Classic theme as far as OS integration. Please make this so!

The problem is, voting for this bug only shows those who are FOR the change. How
does anyone express a preference for this theme NOT to be used as default (apart
from not voting at all, which will just be assumed to be apathy)? I think that
opening a "do not make pinstripe default" bug would be a bit silly, but I really
don't think this theme is good enough to be made the default yet. Fizzilla may
be bright and gaudy, but I think it looks the more professional design at the
moment and will be more impactful on brand new users.

I think I need to partially retract my previous comment. I based my comments on
the Pinstripe3 theme, which seems to have been made default on Mac now. But
noticing the time at which this bug was opened, I guess that "Pinstripe"
referred to the Pinstripe Blue or Graphite themes, which I think are far more
Mac-like and attractive than what is appearing as the default theme currently.
If this bug does refer to one of them, I'd cast my vote for it straight away.

Resolving as fixed, since Pinstripe is now in. Even if it's probably not the
same Pinstripe that existed when the bug was filed.

Why was this resolved fixed? Pinstripe went in for Firefox and Thunderbird, but
not Seamonkey. Gerich only yesterday made available a preliminary updated
version of Pinstripe for Mozilla 1.5 and newer.

Since Pinstripe has morphed into the brand identity of Firefox and Thunderbird I
don't think that it should replace Classic. I appreciate the support, but I
think this report should be WONTFIX. I agree that we can do better than Classic
on Mac OS X though. That's why Pinstripe is available as a stand alone theme.

Marking as WONTFIX, as per Kevin's comments of almost a year ago. With the
current shift towards Firefox as the core browser, I think this has become even
less of an issue.
