Preconditions

  • Fenix is set as default browser.
  • Enable Menu Redesign feature from Secret Settings.
  • Make sure Toolbar Redesign feature is enabled in Secret Settings

Steps to reproduce

  1. Set the Fenix theme different than the device theme.
  2. Open an external app (i.e. Gmail, Instagram, Slack) and tap on a link.
  3. Tap on 3 dots menu and check the menu theme.

Expected behavior

The Custom tab menu respects the device's theme.

Actual behavior

The Custom tab menu follows the Fenix's theme.

Device information

  • Firefox version: Firefox Nightly 134 (2024-11-11)
  • Android device model: Samsung S24 Ultra
  • Android OS version: Android 14
Priority: -- → P3

I can reproduce this. But not too severe, this can be a release blocker.

With considering bug 1927882 and the

Always use the default light/dark theme from the main browser

requirement this bug is invalid. We actually want the entire UI to follow the app's theme.
