Steps to reproduce:
I open Bookmarks - Desktop Bookmarks - Bookmarks Toolbar
Select a Bookmark folder
Actual results:
The bookmarks show in no particular order.
Same is true for the bookmarks in the bookmark folders.
It could be, that the last entries made show up at the top of the list.
Expected results:
Like the previous behavior.
Folders first, in the order of the Bookmarks Toolbar
Then the Bookmarks in the order they are placed on the Toolbar.
Also the bookmarks in the folders should appear in the same order as on desktop.
Don't treat the Bookmark Toolbar and Folders as buckets.

Seems to be an experiment that sorts the mobile bookmarks by date instead of follow the desktop order... The **** if I know why it's done this way but at least it can be deactivated... for now:
In mobile go to Settings -> About Firefox and tap the logo several times until it says that debug menu is now enabled. Go back and select Nimbus Experiments. Look for "Mobile Bookmarks Improvements xxxxxx" (may be more than one) and uncheck any active experiment. Restart Firefox and problem should be fixed... for now.
In addition to the steps described in the previous post make sure that the option "Enable Compose Bookmarks" is not enabled in the "Secret Settings" menu that also appears after tapping several times in Firefox logo.

The only experiment that was enabled was "Mobile Bookmarks Improvements Release", so that doesn't sound like an "experiment" at all.
Disabling the option and restarting the Firefox app is a valid workaround for this issue for the time being.

This bug started in version 133.0.3 and I can see it also affects version 134.0.
Once you install Firefox on Android and enable the sync it shows bookmarks correctly.
After some use (can't say when) it's like the improved version of bookmarks gets enabled and they appears "unsorted".
If you add/edit a bookmark on desktop and the sync, it shows up on top of the folder's list.
