User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:134.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/134.0
Steps to reproduce:
E-mails in the search results listing cannot be opened via keyboard, or at least not the same way they can be in the regular listing (enter
) or with any key combination i could think of.
- Press
ctrl K
- Search for something ("example") and press
enter
- Tab past all your filters, "Show results as list", "Toggle timeline", and "Sort by Date" to select a an e-mail subject.
- Try to open that e-mail with your keyboard (
enter
,ctrl o
,shift enter
,space, enter
…)
On 128.5.2esr (64-bit), apologies if this is already fixed; i did not realize the plain thunderbird
in NixOS was the ESR.
Operating System: NixOS 25.05
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
Kernel Version: 6.6.69 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Actual results:
Nothing happens, no matter what is pressed on the keyboard while the subject of the e-mail is selected, it will not open in its own tab so that one can read and reply to the e-mail.
Expected results:
Tab to e-mail subject, press enter, you are in a tab with that e-mail open.
"Show results as list" would be a workaround (there, you can tab to get to the e-mail subject, then press space
to select it, and finally enter
to open it) BUT there's no way to press the "Show results as list" link/button with the keyboard either.
I hope i'm missing something here but the default accessibility is shockingly bad :-/

Same on Mac. And it fails on Windows in version 102, so I don't this was ever possible. One thing that does work is space bar triggers "Show results as list".
So I think we make this a duplicate of bug 526311
