Details
(Whiteboard: [sng-scotchbonnet])
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:135.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/135.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Save Wikipedia to Firefox search engines
- Open https://en.wikipedia.org/
- Focus the address bar
- Enter a search query
- Click "Search with Wikipedia" (Contextual Search Mode button)
Actual results:
A clear address bar is displayed with the Wikipedia search engine chosen. User's query is removed.
Expected results:
Search results should be displayed for user query.
But this only happens on those sites if their search engines have not been saved to Firefox’s search engine list

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

It looks like (to be verified) in one case we enter search mode, in the other case we immediately execute the search. In the first case anyway we should not lose the search string.

What version of Firefox are you testing? This looks to be fixed in Nightly https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1938036 which landed 13 days ago, I cant reproduce today.
