Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:134.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/134.0
Steps to reproduce:
Firefox 134 added HEVC support on Windows and I tried to play HEVC (H265) videos that are uploaded to Discord, or directly from my local storage (mp4 files.)
Actual results:
I get an error saying "No video with supported format and MIME type found" on Windows 10.
Expected results:
Video should play. I don't have Windows 11, but everyone I asked has Windows 11 and it works there. If possible, please make it work on Windows 10 as well. I searched the web for this issue and people who also also have this problem are using Windows 10.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Would you mind to follow this instruction to capture a profile? It will be even greater if you can do that after restarting a Firefox. Thanks!

I solved the issue by installing the HEVC video extensions from the Microsoft Store:

Nowhere in the release notes of Firefox 134 was it mentioned that I needed to do this. I had expected that "it just works."

Unfortunately, it depends on the Windows version. Firefox can only do HEVC decoding via the Windows Media Foundation, and some Windows version doesn't contain HEVC decoder by default. I couldn't find a full list of unsupported Windows version, Microsoft doesn't have a document to list all of them. It seems that not just Windows K & N, your Windows 10 Education doesn't include that by default as well. On my own Windows 10, I can have hevc decoding work without installing the extension. Sorry about that.
