Same problem on Windows XP
Reporter: does resizing the window 'fix' the problem? (The rules are actually there, they're simply not showing and the scroll-bar isn't showing up due to the message area being too small.) If this is indeed the case, please mark as a duplicate of bug 180144
Window does not allow for a resize. Tabbing from right entry box of rule jumps to the more button, not to another rule.
Are you absolutely certain the window doesn't resize? (aka, could you try it again?) I know the thing doesn't have a resize grippie, but it does resize for me, and it did for the half dozen other people who've reported similar bugs. The behaviour you see with tabbing going to the more button happens for me as well when I resize the window so small that the next rule isn't visible anymore. If you right-click the titlebar of the window, is there a "size" command in the contextmenu?
Actually more button and fewer button do seem to have effect. However, when creating a new filter, only the first rule is ever displayed. For example, create a new filter. Notice fewer button is greyed out (as it should be). Press more. Notice fewer button is not greyed out, as if a rule was added. Now press fewer. Notice fewer button is greyed out, as if a rule was removed.
Ok, so it is actually working, but the only way you can find this out is by resizing the window, which can ONLY BE DONE in a NONINTUITIVE way. What happened to following the windowing standards? Why did this version (1.3.b) shrink the default window sizes below that seen previously? This, then is the root of the bug! You need to be visually consistent and if you are going to change things that worked before the change, give people more visual cues. At least make the window default to 2 rows of rule space or include a twistie at the side to expand the view, or add a resize handle to the rim of the window.
Yes, I am fully aware of and agree with all the reasons why it's bad; no need to reiterate. FYI: What changed was allowing for multiple actions. That entire window needs clean-up. Marking as dupe. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 180144 ***
