Mass-assigning diagnosis-team to webcompat for "Firefox is not supported" bugs that don't already have a team assigned. This action is done by a script. For your convenience, feel free to filter your bugmail with 559a9604-41ec-11f0-9ec6-f3f21dcd7cf2.

Hmm, are we sure we want to sitepatch this one? In bug 1948455 comment 11 (about nearly-but-not-quite-the-same-site), padenot said that this bug here "is likely real and related to our problems with Jitsi, that are being solved."
That was 5 months ago; not sure if things have changed since then. Paul, do you anticipate that this might be fixed now? (Do you think it's worth getting in touch with the site developers about this one if you haven't already, like you did on that other bug?)

I'm afraid I don't know about the specifics enough, it might have been about non-standard SVC signalling when using VP9. Andreas would know, but he's off for about two weeks. Maybe Jan-Ivar knows about who would know.

Ok, then I won't ship an intervention here for now, so we can make a better-informed decision. Thanks, folks!

I found they have a, sort of working, test site: https://preprod.webconf.numerique.gouv.fr/browser_test
Per the log there it's using jitsi:
2025-09-29T16:04:48.699Z [features/base/lib-jitsi-meet] lib-jitsi-meet version: 6de3a8ff
This version is ~3mo old.
It's very spammy in the console about setSinkId:
2025-09-29T16:04:48.999Z [features/base/media] <setSinkId/<>: Error setting sink DOMException: The object can not be found here.
2025-09-29T16:04:49.000Z [features/base/devices] <M2/</</</<>: Failed to set audio output device.
Default audio output device will be used instead NotFoundError: The object can not be found here.
but I cannot test a real call due to lack of auth.
jitsi Meet moved to AV1 some time, much longer than the version mentioned above, ago. It should work fine in Firefox using simulcast. The config for this instance could be different, so I can't say for certain if VP9 simulcast-as-svc may be an issue. That said on the test site I do see in console:
2025-09-29T16:04:49.528Z [modules/qualitycontrol/CodecSelection] <am>: Codec preference order for jvb connection is av1,vp8,h264,vp9
2025-09-29T16:04:49.528Z [modules/qualitycontrol/CodecSelection] <am>: Codec preference order for p2p connection is av1,vp8,h264,vp9
2025-09-29T16:04:49.695Z [modules/qualitycontrol/CodecSelection] <am>: Codec preference order for jvb connection is av1,vp8,h264,vp9
2025-09-29T16:04:49.695Z [modules/qualitycontrol/CodecSelection] <am>: Codec preference order for p2p connection is av1,vp8,h264,vp9
Outreach seems in order.
Per the history of bug 1948455; Paul, do you have contacts?

I don't, I was just going from the website details and found the source at https://github.com/numerique-gouv/b3desk, and contacted the people, and they answered.

On my side, the web site doesn't tell any more that Firefox is unsupported. My version : 140.
Do you confirm ?

I'm not seeing any messages about Firefox/Chrome/etc. on the front page anymore - yay!
However, if I visit their test page https://preprod.webconf.numerique.gouv.fr/browser_test , the top section there seems to be effectively an "Are you using Chromium" test, which shows a warning if you're using Firefox or Safari (though the warning goes away if I spoof a Chrome user-agent string).

(specifically, in Safari or Firefox [without Chrome mask], the first section on https://preprod.webconf.numerique.gouv.fr/browser_test shows this warning with a red background:
Attention, vous utilisez un navigateur qui en l’état dégrade fortement la qualité de la conférence pour tous les participants. Nous vous conseillons donc d'utiliser les navigateurs Edge chromium, Chromium ou Google Chrome.L'application mobile "Jitsi Meet" est utilisable pour simplement rejoindre un salon.
which Google Translate intreprets as follows (I don't speak French):
Attention, you will use a navigator that will greatly degrade the quality of the conference for all participants. Here are some tips for using the navigaters Edge chromium, Chromium or Google Chrome. The mobile application "Jitsi Meet" is useful for simply rejoining a room.
