Steps to reproduce:
I updated to Thunderbird 137.0a1 (2025-02-26) in a Plasma 6.3.1 in a Fedora 41 KDE installation and restarted it. I previously had 4 profiles in ~/.thunderbird My main profile was called default.
Actual results:
When I ran Thunderbird 137.0a1 (2025-02-26) the first or second time and later, a new profile appeared instead of my default profile. Thunderbird 137.0a1 (2025-02-26) didn't show the previously created profiles in about:profiles. Two new profiles called default and default-nightly were created in ~/.mozilla/thunderbird/ So the profile directories changed from ~/.thunderbird and ~/.mozilla/thunderbird/ without migrating the profiles.
Thunderbird 128.7.1 still shows my profiles in ~/.thunderbird. This problem didn't happen with Thunderbird 137.0a1 (2025-02-25) or earlier. I might try to bisect.
Expected results:
My previous created profile should've been shown in Thunderbird 137.0a1 (2025-02-26) as normal.

I bisected with mozregression between 137.0a1 (2025-02-25) and 137.0a1 (2025-02-26). There was only one bisection step which had the change of profile directories to be in ~/.mozilla/thunderbird/. The final pushlog had patches for five bugs.
