On my Galaxy Z Fold 5 using Nightly, "Always request desktop site" is enabled by default and "Desktop site" is toggled on in two different locations.

Steps to reproduce:

Download Nightly on my Galaxy Z Fold 5. Open a web page. It defaults to desktop site. When I close my phone and use the front screen, it's still in desktop mode. As a result, all my web pages were non-responsive until i toggled off the 'request desktop' setting in 2 different places.

Actual results:

Web pages were in desktop mode and not responsive.

Expected results:

Webpages should have became responsive

I tried on an emulated Galaxy Z Fold 5 on a fresh install of Nightly and couldn't reproduce this. When I close and use the front screen, the page is responsive and I'm able to click other links, switch between desktop mode and not, etc.
I'll have QA verify as well.

Hmm, does it use the mobile site? By responsive i meant that the site does not respect mobile web views unless i toggle off both 'request desktop' buttons.

I can send a pic in our chat to show the difference if that helps.

For me, t's defaulting to desktop mode. When I close the phone, it remains in desktop mode. That is the expected behavior.
When I toggle off desktop mode, the pages are responsive.

Can you clarify exactly your steps to reproduce and what is happening? Feel free to attach any pictures you think are helpful to this bug. You can do it by "Attach New File".

I believe I was able to reproduce the issue described: On Nightly ( I used the latest version available, 138.0a1 from 03/31), after opening a website while the device is un-folded, the website is opened with the "Desktop site" option toggled ON by default (this is the expected behavior of tablet-like devices).
After closing/folding the device (using the cover screen), the website continues to be displayed using Desktop mode, instead of the Mobile mode for smaller screens (the "Desktop site" option is still toggled ON), which might affect the user experience. Functionality wise, the page remained responsive, browsing the page worked as expected.

Simplified STR:

  1. Open a website while the device is opened/un-folded mode -> Notice that the Desktop mode is used
  2. Close the device to use the cover screen.
  3. Focus the same page opened in Step 1 -> Notice that the Desktop mode is used, instead of Mobile mode.

Not reproducible with Beta 137.0b10 or Release 137.0.

I could reproduce the bug Delia Pop described, on a Galaxy Z Fold 5 on Firebase TestLab (website remains in Desktop mode when folding the device).

But the webpage is totally responsive for me.

:Daniel, could you please test again and tell us if the bug is still reproducible?

If yes, could you please attach a video reproducing the bug?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Closing this bug as WORKSFORME, since engineers and QA were not able to reproduce non-responsive web pages.
