I've investigated this issue and confirmed that DRTV uses Video.js to display subtitles.
The player renders Danish subtitles inside .vjs-text-track-display, with individual cues using .vjs-text-track-cue.
The video element exposes no native text tracks (video.textTracks.length === 0).
I implemented a JavaScript proof of concept using MutationObserver to read the subtitle elements and mirror their text into a native TextTrack with video.addTextTrack() and VTTCue.
This works: Danish subtitles are now displayed correctly in Firefox Picture-in-Picture.
Firefox already has a site-specific Video.js wrapper (videojsWrapper.js). I propose testing whether registering www.dr.dk in picture_in_picture_overrides.js using this existing wrapper resolves the issue without additional changes.
I'd like to contribute the patch for this bug.
