Steps to reproduce:

  • Open firefox in new profile
  • Install sidebar addon (TST/Sidebery)
  • Turn on Vertical Tabs
  • Open "Customize sidebar" sidebar
  • Enable "Hide tabs and sidebar"
  • Open sidebar of installed addon
  • Resize native vertical tabs area to 0 (needed in the good repro scenario)
  • Open new window

Actual results:

Firefox always show native vertical tabs on opening new window (including browser start) despite "Hide tabs and sidebar" setting

Expected results:

No native tabs in new window

Bug 1921536 - Make the SidebarState the source of truth for the current sidebar command/panel and re-open previous panel when toggling the sidebar open.

I can reproduce this. It seems like when we collapse the launcher on click of "hide tabs and sidebar" and then open a new window, the state of the window opener to be adopted may not be correct.
