The work to enable hiding of the Extensions Button is spread across a few bugs.
The initial patches are in bug 1948258, which introduces the work behind a hidden pref (extensions.unifiedExtensions.button.customizable).
Once all dependencies land, this hidden pref can be removed, which allows users to hide the Extensions Button via the UI.

Here is a video recording showing the user experience of hiding the Extensions Button.
Our product manager (Alan) will nominate this feature for the release notes of Firefox 140.

Release Note Request (optional, but appreciated)
[Why is this notable]: It is the most requested feature on Mozilla Connect relating to extensions
[Affects Firefox for Android]: No
[Suggested wording]: The Firefox Extensions button can now be removed from the toolbar, giving you more control over how your customize your browser. When the button is hidden you can access the extensions panel again at any time from the Firefox menu by clicking the Extensions menu item.

Thanks, added to the Fx140 beta release notes, please allow 30 minutes for the site to update.
Keeping the relnote-firefox flag as ? to keep it on the radar for inclusion in the final Fx140 release notes.
