Eric, can you still reproduce this?
When it happens, can you check the Error Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) for relevant errors?

I can, but unfortunately I don’t get any errors in the console. I’ll record a quick screencap.
I get a bunch of telemetry ping errors probably blocked by my PiHole, but I don’t think that’s the reason. I’ll make sure to allow Thunderbird telemetry anyways

Thanks for bringing this up Eric, I will investigate, and hopefully provide a fix ASAP.
While this is being investigated, you can go to your settings and disable account hub for email setup so you can still access the old email setup.

Eric, does this particular exchange email address require a username? Or is it password auth only?

I've tested this on the a patch that's currently in review for Bug 1957591, and the loading screen being stuck is resolved on that patch. I believe this was an auth issue with exchange, so I'm going to mark this as a duplicate and CC you on that bug so you know when it's uplifted.
If your account needs a username, that is still a work in progress for Account Hub, and I've created Bug 1973582 to track that.

Hmm, that’s a weird thing. That particular exchange account does indeed need a username, but I also get the exact same behaviour with IMAP emails which don’t require a seperate username

I’m a bit confused about the current situation. The bugreport ist marked closed, but I still encounter the exact same problem on the latest daily with my IMAP account where I also don’t have a separate username
