Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install (crashes when starting after install)
2. Restart
2a. Will crash if QuickLaunch is enabled on startup
3. Open Mozilla (crashes)
4. Reinstall (crashes in same fashion)
5. Repeat
Actual Results:
Crash
Expected Results:
No crash
Error Info:
The instruction at "0x61e1b11c" referenced memory at "0x6552736e". The memory

Happened with today's build too (03-17-03).

Even though the bug is listed as happening in XPCOM.DLL, it's still a bug that
belongs to the Installer component. They can throw it back to XPCOM if they so
desire. Moving component to Installer.
Does this still happen? If so, I see two reports here from different machines, I
can confirm.
Also, we need more information: is there anything that you can do to make the
installation work? Does it matter what options you've selected?

Installing Mozilla 1.4 RC3 on Win 98SE
Crashes after install and also after reboot.
I had been running 1.3, I uninstalled 1.3, Then installed 1.4RC3.
The install appeared to work fine. No Splash Screen came up then I got "This
Program has perfromed and illegal operation".
After several unsuccessful attempt to get 1.4RC3 working I installed (without
problem) 1.3.1.
I could not get talk back to work so I will attach a text file with the crash
details.
bug 210731 will probably prevent crashes like this in the future.

If these files exist, could you attach them? They might be helpful:
...\mozilla.org\mozilla\install_status.log
...\mozilla.org\mozilla\install_wizard.log
Looking over this again, it might be a duplicate, but I can't think of of what,
right now, so I'll confirm it. (Maybe I just think it's a duplicate of itself...)
Added bug 210731 as a dependency.
