User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:138.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/138.0

Steps to reproduce:

I ticked the box to "clear history when Firefox closes".

Screenshot: https://snipboard.io/vgp75G.jpg

Actual results:

I restarted Firefox and was surprised that all my open tabs and tab groups have been deleted as well.

Expected results:

I would have expected that this setting clears my history while preserving my open tabs because I also ticked the box to "open previous windows and tabs".

Hi Mark and Jules,

After discussing this with the Session Restore team we think the current behavior, which errs on the side of privacy, is correct. However, these two settings are somewhat at odds with each other. Given you're working on a redesign of the settings, I think it would be good to get your input on how to communicate this interaction.

Hey DJ, I'm tagging our content designer instead, who will write the strings. Thanks!

Thanks team!

I think there should be a new setting introduced here: https://imgur.com/a/jzUvtdH

To check or uncheck whether you want to also clear your currently opened tabs and tab groups.
