The current release plan for Exchange is to turn it on for 141 and let the change that enables it ride the train to the release channel.

Thank you to all the teams and dev that made this happen. Great new feature!
does this fix only work with EWS and not with the smtp.office365.com as just installed 145.0 b1 and still do not get the option to ADD the pw, tells me need to enter, of course as 1st time using this smto, but then i do not get the enter option, TB just off trying again, and no way can I enter it into the Password window manually, which would be a good idea

Hi Antony! This change is indeed related only to EWS. Its purpose is to enable native EWS support by default to Thunderbird releases other than Thunderbird Daily (previously, non-Daily releases required the user to manually change an advanced property for native EWS support to become unavailable). It's not meant as a fix to an existing bug, but as a rollout step.
If you're encountering a problem with SMTP and password management, I'd encourage you to file a separate bug if you haven't already done so (or none already exists for your problem).

Brendan, understood, already have a bug out for the 2FA issue with Outlook and office365 in general - 1935379
