This is a clone of Bug 1964734 - wrong update channel when using lang packs - showing 138 beta - beta xpi language packs have been uploaded to the release channel - but there are differences.

Installed 140.0 release channel candidate on Windows.
Help and Help > About show branding as "Thunderbird beta".

Reproduces WITHOUT language packs and also in a new profile.

It is unknown whether esr140 will be affected, because we haven't built it yet. But let's assume the worst.

This is an ongoing issue we have to manually circumvent after each merge, but it belongs in a more generic bug going forward. We can close this.
