there's been some recent general changes to menus that resulted in the checkmark in the chat menu showing up on windows, and bug 1966979 made them aligned by always showing the checkbox even when unchecked. e.g., screenshot from https://vmst.io/@maikel/114750051446177213
potentially these should be configured as radio to only show one but keep the gutter? this doesn't affect macos
