I started working on an add-on to switch between standard layout + table view and vertical layout + cards view with a single action, and maybe one day based on screen resolution.
The MailTab type includes a layout: standard | wide | vertical, but I couldn't find a way to toggle the format of the message, that is, the value of mail.threadpane.listview.
Would it make sense to add a view attribute, with values cards | table ?
I've made a first attempt at adding a new property for switching between cards and table display. While it appears to work, it is just a proof of concept. The property name, in particular, doesn't feel quite right!

I will look at this in the next days. Thanks for your contribution!
Would you be able to create a phabricator account?

It will be much easier to work with the patch on phab, then via attachments.
Thank you John! I'll have a look at Phabricator, but I probably need to get a proper environment set up — my current process is to unpack omni.ja and mess with the contents 👀
Hello John,
No worries if it's a matter of time and priority, but I was wondering if there's anything else I should do to get the proposed patch ready on Phabricator. The flow is not entirely clear to me.
Thank you!

Hey @dreadnaut, I tried to contact you via phabricator, but I am not sure if you got my message. Your submission slipped because you did not request review, and it was not listed in any of my dashboards. I forgot to mention that crucial step, I am sorry for that oversight.
I posted a question: https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D265567#9438567
If possible, could you tell me what you think, preferable directly in phabricator?
Thanks again for tackling this.
