RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1956258

People

(Reporter: josh+mozilla, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/18.6 Safari/605.1.15

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Configure Thunderbird as the default mail client on macOS
  2. Load https://www.w3docs.com/snippets/html/how-to-create-mailto-links.html in Safari
  3. Click any of the "Send Email" links

Actual results:

Thunderbird comes to the foreground but nothing else happens.

Expected results:

A new message composition window should open with the email address(es) in the links pre-filled in the To: field.

This is a regression. I'm not sure exactly when the behaviour changed, but I'm pretty sure it was working in the previous LTS before I updated to 140.

Same result if the link is clicked in Firefox, BTW.

Hartmut, is this something you might be able to look at?

Hartmut, is this something you might be able to look at?

If this is a Mac-specific problem, then I am not due to a lack of hardware. However, I could imagine that it has something to do with Bug 1956258.

Reporter, please test with Thunderbird 140.1.1 ESR as soon as it is released.

This is indeed now working in 140.1.1.

Thanks for the confirmation.
